BEMER Riders Tour: Jodie Hall Mcateer and Kimosa van het Kritrahof gallop to victory in the 3rd leg

(Ommen/NED) Two young talents and a local hero determined the podium of the 3rd leg of the BEMER Riders Tour in the Dutch Vechte Valley today. The 23-year-old British rider Jodie Hall Mcateer on Kimosa van het Kritrahof (by Chatman) won her first 20 Tour points in a high tension second round. The young show jumper has thus placed herself in the top group of the BEMER Riders Tour in one go. The Dutch rider Michael Greeve from the neighbouring Veeningen landed on Jacksonville Eurohill (by Emerald) in second place, just a blink of an eye ahead of the 22-year-old Harry Allen from Ireland, who was in the saddle of Calculatus (by Cachassini).

Winner impressed with her coolness

The weather was just as heated as the competition itself. Thunder and lightning followed sweltering heat and 33 degrees. The best 50 riders of the qualification started in the Grand Prix van het Vechtdal powered by Handelshuis Schuttert & Provincie Overijssel. Course director Marco Hesse had set some tricky tasks for the participants of the CSI3* jumping competition over 1.55m, which many a top pair failed to complete. 12 pairs made it into the second round of the Grand Prix of Ommen. Jodie Hall Mcateer, who has made a remarkable rise from team gold in the ponies to the top class of the sport in recent years, showed two strong clear rounds and impressed with coolness when it mattered: “It was one of my best results with this mare, She’s a super speed horse normally, so it’s nice for her to get a Grand Prix on the record as well. She’s an amazing horse.”

Top level riding in Ommen

It’s a super show, the standard of the competition is really high, so it’s great to be able to hold my own and have a good result. Coming in, I knew I was early to go, so I had my plan and I rode to that. And then in the winning round, even though the four-fault rounds went first, I was drawn early again. I went as fast as I could and it worked out,” an elated Jodie commented after her winning performance. The top trio from Ommen are now planning to take a look at the BEMER Riders Tour calendar to plan for more stages. The prospect of a car as a prize for the top three overall also appealed to Michael Greeve and Harry Allen.

Qualifier winners Jos Verlooy (BEL) and Fts Killossery Konfusion had four jumping faults in both rounds and ended up in 10th place. The winner of the second leg of the BEMER Riders Tour, Michael Kölz from Leßnig and Cellato, did not reach the second round, nor did Patrick Stühlmeyer (Mühlen) with Quando Vengo, who is tied for the lead in the ranking with 20 points. Sophie Hinners was the best German rider with Hialita B in 13th place with four faults.

Tour more popular in the Netherlands

Organiser Hendrik-Jan Schuttert was happy to host a Tour stage again this season, “This year we are already a well-rehearsed team. Word about the concept of the BEMER Riders Tour has also spread more among the Dutch riders. There are some participants who are also already eyeing the coming stages.” The BEMER Riders Tour is now looking forward to the fourth stop and this will take place at the RZ Immenhöfe in Donaueschingen. The “Festival of Horses” runs from 27 to 30 July 2023 and is hosting the BEMER Riders Tour for the third time.
