BEMER Young Riders Tour: High hopes for Germany at the sixth stop in Hagen a.T.W.

(Hagen a.T.W.) The BEMER Young Riders Tour returns to Germany this week. The Future Champions event at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen am Teutoburger Wald will once again offer the chance to win points for the ranking and with only one more stop before the season finale in Belgium, this opportunity will be seized by many riders. The German Young Riders in particular are keen to catch up at their home event and have sent a strong contingent with many young talents. This was already evident in the opening jumping competition for the Young Riders on Wednesday afternoon. 31 starters from five nations took part in the classic against the clock test over 1.40m. The top three places went to riders under the black-red-gold flag. Lea-Sophie Gut (Biberach An Der Riß) won with the Holsteiner mare Canturia in the fastest time of 67.41 seconds. Second place went to Felix Raude (Bad Iburg) with Claude R in 69.09 seconds ahead of Timm Korte (Kürten) and Conbalou (70.33 sec.).

On Sunday in the Young Riders Grand Prix, the sixth rating competition of the BEMER Young Riders Tour 2023, Gut will be riding her second horse, the Lord Z son, Horse Gym’s Landinos. She already won a CSI3* jumping competition with him in Munich-Riem this year. Two young men from Belgium and the Czech Republic will also be hoping for good placings: Leon Brutsaert (BEL) is currently in the top 10 in the tour ranking with 17 points, Oliver Pisarik (CZE) scored his first 9 points with a seventh place in Zuidwolde.

The German national junior jumping coach, Peter Teeuwen is confident that his protégés will do well at the only German stop of the BEMER Young Riders Tour: “The riders have all prepared well for this show. Many of our strong combinations have now grown out of the age group, and we see new, young riders coming through, who still need a little more experience at this level.”

“The young riders are all very keen for starting places in the BEMER Young Riders Tour. After Matthis Westendarp’s overall victory in 2022, word has spread about the opportunities that the BEMER Young Riders Tour opens up. Of course, this is also a great motivator! I have many requests internally for the shows where the tour takes place,” Teeuwen explains.

The sixth Grand Prix of the BEMER Young Riders Tour will start on Sunday at 2.45 pm and will be broadcast live on ClipMyHorse.TV. Starter and result lists are available at https://online.equipe.com/de/competitions/56033
