The mode of the BEMER Riders Tour 2022/23

“Consistency” is the key word for success in the BEMER Riders Tour. As nice as a big victory is – being really good once is not enough in the international series. It takes not only exceptional riders and horses, but also a tried and tested set of rules for consistency to develop. The Tour has that:

Eligible to start:

Eligible to compete in the 5 to 7 stages of the series are in principle:

1.) the best 25 riders of the World Ranking List Show Jumping (Longines Ranking)

(as of 2 months before the start of the event),

2.) the best 3 riders of the respective current BEMER Riders Tour Ranking 2022

(For the first leg: the best 3 riders of the final ranking of the Riders Tour 2021/22)

3.) further riders who are entitled to start at the respective show.

Qualification for BEMER Riders Tour special stage

Each stage is preceded by a qualifier for the BEMER Riders Tour, which is an international world ranking show jumping competition with a single jump-off.

The best 50 riders of this qualification (for the final stage the best 40 riders) are entitled to start in the BEMER Riders Tour competition.

BEMER Riders Tour ranking competition

The BEMER Riders Tour competition is an international world ranking show jumping competition with two rounds. With regard to the starting order in the 1st round, the following applies: Reverse order of the qualification result. This means that the best rider in the qualification has secured the pole position and will start last in the competition.

The best 25 percent of the first round, but at least all zero-fault rides, go into the second round.
In the second round, everyone starts from zero again. Penalty points from the first round are not taken into account.

The starting order in the 2nd round will be in reverse order of the penalty points from the 1st round (competitors with the most penalty points will start first). In the event of a tie, the competitors will start in the same order as in the first round.

BEMER Riders Tour ranking

Points will be awarded to the riders for their placings in the respective competitions as follows:

The BEMER Riders Tour points system:

01. Platz = 20 Punkte 06. Platz = 10 Punkte 11. Platz = 05 Punkte
02. Platz = 17 Punkte 07. Platz = 09 Punkte 12. Platz = 04 Punkte
03. Platz = 15 Punkte 08. Platz = 08 Punkte 13. Platz = 03 Punkte
04. Platz = 13 Punkte 09. Platz = 07 Punkte 14. Platz = 02 Punkte
05. Platz = 11 Punkte 10. Platz = 06 Punkte 15. Platz = 01 Punkt

If more than one rider finishes in the same place, they will receive the same number of points.
e.g. two riders in 3rd place: 15 points each. The next placed rider would then be 5th and receive 11 points.

Overall winner BEMER Riders Tour: “Rider of the Year“

For the overall ranking of the BEMER Riders Tour, the 4 best results will be counted.

In order for a rider to be included in the final classification, a start at the final stage, the “VR CLASSICS” Neumünster 2023, is mandatory.

The rider who has collected the most points in the BEMER Riders Tour is “Rider of the Year”.

In the event of a points tie, the most victories or 2nd places, etc. will decide. Should there still be a tie, the better result in the final stage will decide.
