Perfect round — David Will wins the qualifier for the BEMER Riders Tour in Münster

(Münster) His flying lap of honour under floodlights highlighted just how happy he was: David Will from Marburg won the international Marktkauf Cup at Münster’s “Turnier der Sieger” in a jump-off with My Prins van Dorperheide and with it the qualifier for the BEMER Riders Tour on Sunday. The 34-year-old was able to beat both WEG fifth placed rider Marcus Ehning (Borken) and Swiss Nations Cup rider Alain Jufer in the jump-off and cheerfully announced that the result could be exactly the same on Sunday.

“On loan” My Prins

Course director Olaf Petersen Jr. had set some tricky tasks for the 41 riders, who competed under floodlight in front of a packed grandstand. Exactly eight pairs reached the jump-off of the international competition, which was worth 60,000 Euros. David Will has not had the ten-year-old Belgian grey My Prins by Dorperheide in his stable for very long. His owner, Gerald Nothdurft from Göttingen, is currently injured and entrusted some of the horses to the trio of Will, Richard Vogel and Sophie Hinners, as he has done so often in the past.

Third show, first victory

“This was now our third show,” says David Will, “and the gelding has already done some great things, having been ridden by Gerald himself.” He had made his very own plan for the round and the course, suited to the horse’s abilities and with an eye on the clock. Marcus Ehning with the Abke son A La Carte NRW was not able to beat the 37.89 seconds of Will and My Prins (38.49). Long-time leader Alain Jufer from Switzerland with Cornet Mm was delighted with third place. Fellow rider Sophie Hinners, the current leader of the BEMER Riders Tour Ranking, was beaming alongside David Will. She will be able to extend her lead in the rating competition on Sunday.

The fifth leg of the BEMER Riders Tour will be decided on Sunday from 15.00 pm in the Prize of the Auto Nagel Group. David Will has the advantage of being able to observe his colleagues first, as the winner of the qualification he is allowed to start as the last competitor in the rating competition.

WDR television will show the Grand Prix from 3 pm on “Sport im Westen – live”. In addition, the streaming portal ClipMyHorse.TV will broadcast the event in Münster.
